Question
Rose bush with chewed
I have planted a few rose bushes in my yard and gardens over the last 3-4 years, different types, different sizes. Every single bush, no matter where they are in the yard, has been getting munched upon all year by something that I haven't been able to find. The flowers are still fine but the leaves are turning to lace, although not in a pretty way. New leaves come out and it isn't long before they also have holes in them. I have sprayed several times with a product called "3-in-1 Garden Spray" that is supposed to be for organic gardening to kill fungus, mites and insects. I figured whatever it is must fall into one of those categories but the munching continues unhindered. None of my other plants have any signs of such damage so this is a rose-specific problem. Help! I'm attaching a picture that I just took - it's night so the only light is the camera flash.
AnswerRose slugs are what are eating your roses. Here is a really good site that tells you all about them and the different things you can do to get rid of them. They lay their eggs in the soil at the base of the rose so that is why you could find any evidence of what was doing the damage.
