QuestionI have two knockout roses around my mail box. One has lost almost all of it's leaves but the other one is doing fine. The leaves initially started turning yellow and now the bottom and middle is bare and leggy. How can I save this bush and prevent whatever is happening from attacking the other one?
I am in zone 7.
Thanks so much!
AnswerI am getting a lot of questions about Knock Out roses going yellow. It seems that they have less tolerance than other shrub roses in regards to any adverse conditions such as a heat wave or not enough water when it is hot. Both of these conditions put most roses under stress but Knock Out seems to get the most stress. Does any of the above conditions sound like your weather? I would prune the rose back a little and then make sure it gets a little more attention, such as water, than the other rose. Also some roses resent fertilizer when the weather is hot.
