Question I live in the Seattle area and I have a miniature rose bush that grows about 3 feet high. Every year the roses are a differnet color. It started out as a pink rose and it has slowly changed color. Last year it was a pure salmon color and this year it is a little darker with a red streak on the outside of the petals with a light yellow center.I would like to know why the color changes every year. Each year I can hardly wait to see what new color it will have. I don't want to stop the color change I am just curious why it is happening.
Thank you,
Janet
AnswerRoses have bloodlines just like human beings and those blood lines are many different coloured roses. Often times a rose "sports" back to one of it's ancestors. Some bush roses sport to a climber other bush roses go from a red to a yellow colour. Your mini is sporting every year to one of the roses in it's background. It is unusual that it sports so many times.
