QuestionI have several rose gardens and would like to pretty them and retain moisture around them. Can I put cedar bark or mulch around my roses? I am adding a weed barrier material in the bed under the bark.
AnswerCedar bark mulch go a bad rap until they took a closer look at it and found it was okay. The oil that was the complaint is in the wood not the bark. But with any bark mulch it is a wisdom to get some cheap nitrogen fertilizer and sprinkle it lightly over the mulch just in case it takes some of the nitrogen out of the soil.
