Hi

I bought two rose bushes at the end of the season.  It has been about a month and they have not done anything.  It is just the stalk and it looks terrible- I am ready to dig them up and toss them.  

I am new to roses and no idea if they are still alive or if they are just a little shy.

Can you please help? They don't look good with my other flowering plants.

If you cut the top of one of the canes and it has brown in the center or on the sides, then the canes id dead. Keep cutting back the cane until you see the colour of a green apple all through the cane. You can keep cutting the canes all the way down to about 3 inches and if it is alive, then it will grow back for you. However it sounds like the rose didn't make it through the winter.
