QuestionI have many sea roses. I know there is another name for them and I think they originated in Japan. I fertilized them in the spring and they are blooming magnificenly. However after they bloom they produce some bulbous type green ball thingy and that is it. Do I cut them back so they keep blooming or what. I am in upstate new york but in Maine on the coast the sea roses bloom all summer. Is there anything I can do to keep them in bloom?
thanks.

AnswerRosa Rugosas are the sea roses and do well in most gardens. Thy flower and then the make rose hips which are a round green colour which then change red when they are ripe. These are the seed pods of the roses. Many people make jam, syrup and tea from the hips as they are high in vitamin C. There is nothing you can do to make them stay in bloom longer.
