QuestionMy husband gave me two dozen red roses. The stems have all grown new shoots. Can I plant the stems somehow and grew a new plant?
AnswerFlorist roses are grown in a nice warm greenhouse and most are really frail growers any where else. They are very pampered. You can try and pot them up in a loose medium such as potting soil for seeds, place a glass jar over them and see if they will make roots. Take the jar off when you see good strong growth not before. Then use a house plant type of liquid fertilizer a half strength twice a month. I should warn you it usually isn't successful.
