leaf roll on roses

Question
QUESTION: Is there anything else which causes leaf roll on roses besides saw fly?  I can't find any signs of eggs or grubs. Reading area. Thank you

ANSWER: There is a rose pest called a Tortix leaf moth. It lays it's eggs on the underside of a leaf and then uses a silken thread to hold the leaf together. When the eggs hatch they start eating the leaf. If you don't have many, then simply pick the leaves off and burn them.

QUESTION: Thank you for your reply.  There are no signs of eggs, silken threads or grubs. Could it be something else?

Answer
Rose leaves can curl on their own if the weather suddenly turns cold for a few days. Also they will curl if a fertilizer is used that they don't like. I am getting a lot of questions regarding distorted leaves with no signs of insects. Even in my garden, because we had a couple of days of cold, the leaves don't look normal and even the colour is wrong. Could that be the answer? If there are no signs of insects, then in a about 10 days you should see some normal shaped leaves coming on your roses.
