QuestionMy running rose bush has lots of flowers but this year it has very few leaves. It looks odd without leaves! What can I do about this?
AnswerUsually the complaint is that the rose has leaves but no flowers but yours is the opposite. Is something eating the leaves? Are there caterpillars or insects on the canes which could eat the leaves? Did you use a spray which could have stunted the leaf growth? Sometimes insecticides will damage leaves. And the last situation that would cause only a few leaves to grow, is that a late frost killed them when they were just budding out. The only suggestion I can offer you, is to wait and see what happens after the flowers have finished their first flush. That is the time a rose puts out another flush of leaves.
