Please help Edith means the world to me

Question
Last fall my parents moved from my child hood home.My mom had a rose that has been passed down from my great great grandma. Edith I also new her she meant a whole lot to me. and she taught me lots of things about gardening and grafting different things like Dogwoods (half pink half white) which I have done lots of times. As well, as Doing cuttings from different plants. I do have a green thumb! But  HERES my problem I transplanted a 80yr old Dark red rose that smells out of this world named "Edith" Last fall, she was in very bad shape.(almost dead) She came back with vengeance! I done the little cuttings at the bottom of the stem to promote new roots and she has had several babies this spring. It has been very windy around here lately and I put down a stake for a little support for her. As I drove the stake in the ground I didn't realize I actually cut off a baby that is about 2 1/2 feet high. I cut it down close to the root where the stem is very white. I am heart broken!! I should of been  paying more attention! Any way I have put that part of "EDITH" in a big pot of potting soil and some sand. As well as made some etches next to the bottom of the stem and buried them to hopefully to start some new roots.:-) I have her staked up very carefully with clear plastic over her (Green house) Is there any thing else I can do except wait? The stalk I am referring to is very healthy red thick bout 1/2 inch in diameter. W/O any black spots or pests.

Answer
Alas, all you can do is wait. Be prepared that the stem may be too soft to make new roots. However if you keep it in your greenhouse and out of any hot sunshine, it make strike for you. And you can always take top cuttings from the 80 year old Edith, as they usually strike very well.
