QuestionHi again. My fairy rose is growing, but does not bloom much at all. (2nd year from planting) I live in S.E. Ohio. The soil has a lot of red clay and is near our horse barn.
AnswerYour little rose should bloom this year. However if you had a cold snap in the spring of a very cold winter, then the flowers buds could have been frozen. All this means is that you won't get the first flush but you should get the second flush which will come at the end of July. Watch out for the nitrogen in the fertilizer as this encourages new growth at the expense of flowers. Because it is late in the growing season I would give your little rose some tomato fertilizer at half the strength. This will definitely encourge the rose to bloom. Hope this helps.
