Questioni purchased i little place that has a little front yard to it.
it seems the previous owners never pruned the roses.
can i cut back some of the brunches now in middle of June or it will kill it?
AnswerPruning now will probably be good for this Rosebush. I suspect this is a rambling, somewhat dissheveled shrub -- it should be covered with Roses right now. If it's not, there may not be enough sun. In which case you would be doing it an even bigger favor by moving it to a sunnier location. Does this Rose get sun all day?
Cutting a branch almost always stimulates the cells where you cut to grow. The node -- the little bump -- below your cut will sprout new leaves and stems in the weeks after your pruning exercise.
Fertilize if you're so inclined with a good Rose food or high Nitrogen fertilizer. And watch out for thorns.
