QuestionI received a rose bush for Mothers Day, it had big beautiful peach colored blooms. After planting it, the blooms died. It is now growing burgundy leaves. I am ver new to the growing/caring of roses, and I am not sure if the burgundy leaves are normal. Also, there are no new blooms, is this normal as well? Thanks for your help and advice.
AnswerHi Stacet-
Right now, the rose is going through transplant shock - and probably won't have another bloom cycle for 2-3 months which is normal, as the roots went into shock when you planted it. However, the rose sounds like it is doing well, as it is growing new leaves. On many types of roses, new growth is burgandy (or reddish-purple). This is normal. After a few weeks the burgandy leaves should turn green.
Good luck-
