QuestionI planted a Jackson Rose three years ago (don't remember the variety) that went straight in the ground with it's box. The plant has done well until this year. I started getting roses (yellow) early April, nice full blooms, but then the leaves started to turn yellow with black spots. I pulled those off and many of the others just fell off. This day I have a tall plant with about 10 nice blooms on it, but about 90% of the leaves are gone. Any advice you could provide would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Answerhi byron...........go to your local garden center and ask for the most popular rose fungicide there (ortho has some wonderful local products) fungicides are pro-active in that we spray every two weeks or so even if there is no evidence of a fungal disease........but, it is never too late to spray. there are two types: systemic - which sinks into the leaf and works from the inside out; topical - that coats the leaf and protects from the outside. it is a choice. i always include a pinch of miracle gro with every gallon of fungicide mixed so that i can feed (encouraging new foliar growth to replace those fallen leaves)...........good luck and God bless,
