completely separated. what can i do to save it? i've had for 10
years!
AnswerHi Georgia-
It will be very difficult to save this one, but you can try this. Make a slight cut with a knife on both cut ends of the trunk of tree rose, to cut off any dried ends, especially if it has been a couple days since this happened. Soak the trunk of the top part of the tree rose in water until you can get to the store to buy some rooting hormone (not more than 1 day). Make sure the bottom end of the broken tree rose trunk is wet also (wrap wet paper towels around this end). Use a paint brush to apply rooting hormone to the cut ends of the tree rose trunk (you can buy it at a local garden center or even Lowes). Get some electrical tape (the waterproof kind), garden tape or even duct tape. Put both ends together (make sure they are well coated with rooting hormone) and wrap the tape around the two joined ends, so they will stay together as a tree trunk. Get a metal garden stake (or a sturdy wood stake) and drive it in the ground next to the trunk of the tree rose, and tie the tree rose to the stake to secure it. The longer you wait the less chance of success. You need to make sure you water the tree rose by hand (not sprinkler) because you don't want to wash away the rooting hormone. Direct the water to the roots. I can't guarantee this will work - but you can try!
I hope this helps.
Good luck-
