QuestionI live in Portugal, Lisbon.
I have acquired a rose plant in a vase.
I have noticed that the leaves have a white veneer, as if eaten by some parasite. It has spread to other plants. I believe it is a tiny white insect that eats the small new leaves also. How do I get rid of it?
Thankyou for your time
AnswerHi Diana-
You said this rose is in a vase. Is it growing in the vase with dirt inside? Does it have drainage holes? The white veneer could be mildew - from not getting proper drainage. Make sure the pot for all your roses has drainage holes. Or, you could be right, it could be insects. I would go to the local garden center, and buy a combination insecticide/fungicide spray, and spray all the affected plants leaves. If the spray is rain proof (should say if it is on the label) that is the best. If not, you'll need to spray once a week - then once the problem is gone - spray every time the problem comes back.
Hope this helps.
Have fun smelling the roses-
