QuestionI have had 2 Stanwell Perpetual rose bushes for several years now. They always blossom profusely each year, and the bushes are quite large. But I now find that the canes underneath are bare, and only the top canes blossom. Should I prune the bush? Or is this the way they grow? If I need to prune the bush, when and how should I do this?
Thank you.
AnswerHi Carol.........yes, i would prune.....start with all the dead wood, then shape and prune according to the height and width you would like. You can do this now, just make sure that you are feeding, watering and following your fungicide program consistently.
