Dead Heading

Question
I have the miniture rose collection that I got from Springhill Nurseries last year. They say they are low maintenance and need little care, however mine now have all these dead pods on them. Do I need to cut all dead ones off as I do with all my regular roses?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Joan-

Yes maam - you need to trim those all off.  It won't hurt the plant a bit.  Actually - it is a form of pruning that will add health to the plant, and aid in shaping the form of the plant.  Also - will lead to a more compact, bushier, form.  Go right ahead and trim away!

You really can't believe what the nurseries say - they are only trying to sell roses.  I bought some roses that were supposedly "very disease resistant" only to have them become
some of the most diseased roses I have ever seen!

Have fun smelling the roses!

p.s.  My favorite mini is Rise N' Shine, and Baby Carousel (tree form).
