QuestionHello,
My name is Rose and I have a question. My husband bought me 12 beautiful long stem roses from a local florist for Valentines Day. He's a great guy. I always try to make my cut roses last as long as possible so at the end of about 10 days I dumped all the water, started to cut the stems and low and behold some of the flowers are alive! They started to 搇eave off?or 揵ranch off?or in other words, they are growing! I would love to be able to nurture them, plant them and have valentine roses planted in my rose garden. What do you think? Is it possible ?
Answer Rose, I personally think it is always worth a try.....go to your local home and garden center and purchase a large bag of organic humus. Find the largest pot you have, treat the stems with a rooting hormone powder and insert them as deep as possible in the organic humus. Keep the pot in a partially shady area and make sure the soil stays moist.
These roses were grown in a "greenhouse" condition and may or may not have been cut at a node (where the stem joins the bush it self). If it was that will increase your chances of rooting. If you have success , keep the cutting(s) in that pot through the season, overwinter in a protected area, and the next spring you will be able to transplant it into the garden......Good luck, may God bless,
