QuestionI seem to recall something about using ice water to revive cut roses that have started to droop. Any truth to that? if so, just how do I do it? Or any other methods?
Answer I would not suggest it. Something too cold would almost surely do the opposite. Somethings you can do:
(1) Recut the stems at least an inch shorter and emerge in clean lukewarm water.
(2) "wrap" the upper stems in paper to support the heads until stems refill with water.
Also, if you use a floral preservative at the beginning it will extend the life of the rose...but, you will still need to change the water by the second day (something simple - vinegar and sugar in the water). Bacteria usually is the culprit; but, recutting the stems and redoing the water should do the trick.
(3) Make sure that roses are not in direct sunlight or undue heat, just to be sure.
