QuestionI live in Southeastern Oklahoma, I have 4 bush type roses and one climber. None of them has ever really flourished. Two of the bush type came from Jackson-Perkins, the others are from a local garden center. I have watered, fertilized, etc. but they put out nice foilage in the spring, then lose it, they bloom some but not profusely. They are in a bed on the west-south. I am almost ready to give up on roses!
AnswerRoses are like people, some roses prefer a warm climate like California, while others like a cool one such as the Oregon. When gardeners are really into roses, they usually get them from a mail order nursery that only grows roses. Then you can pick only the roses that will do well for you. Here is a list of roses that prefer to grow in Oklahoma.
Hope this helps. Lynnette
