QuestionI can never remember where you cut off rose blooms as i remember it is either above or below the leaf with 5 leaves on it i know it is one or the other but i can never remember which
Thanks
AnswerHi, Glen. With over 200 varieties of roses blooming here in our gardens, sometimes it is easy to want to just snap off those heads! But, the proper and cleanest way to deadhead is to clip above the first true set of leaves(5 leaves), thus never leaving that tale-tell brown "stem" sticking up. It is the best over all way to "prune" all season and keep those blossoms flourishing....and the complete opposite is true in late fall, so stop deadheading then to trigger the natural dormancy of winter.
