QuestionI am a compulsive deadheader. As it relates to the newer hybrids, Knock-out and Carefree Wonder, does it serve any purpose other than making the shrub look better?
AnswerRoses bloom for only one reason, and that is to set seed hips so they can reproduce themselves. If you don't dead head then the rose thinks that there is no need to flower anymore as it has set seeds. So you snap the dead blooms off to trick the rose into making more flowers. Hope this helps.
