Question I live in West Point,Ny- Lower Hudson River Valley. My husband planted 14 various Rose bushes this year- and all lived! They've all bloomed , and I know I have to 'deadhead' them. How exactly do you do that?I seem to always do it wrong, because I never get a new growth.
AnswerRose books used to tell you that you have to cut back to the first set of 5 leaves (which many roses do not have). Now because roses are a big business and large commercial growers test rose books wisdon, they have found that just snapping the dead heads off is the best way to dead head. The new growth will start just below the base of the flower. Hope this helps. Lynnette
