I just noticed that one of my roses seems to have an infestation of scale. Could you please tell me what the best organic method for treatment might be?

If you just have a few rose bushes then it is easy to get rid of these insects organically. For scale you can do a couple of things. Take a Q Tip and soak it with rubbing alcohol and touch the scale with it. Then spray the canes where the insects are with horticultural oil at the rate of 1 tablespoon to a quart of water. If you don't have this type of oil, any pure Canola oil ( it is the lightest type) will do.  Try and keep it off the leaves if possible as it makes them sticky and dust and dirt will stick on them. Lynnette
