QuestionI have a climbing rose that is not blooming this year, when I went to prune it, I noticed on several stems there were no "fifth leaves" and only on two or three other stems was I able to do this. I'm considering digging it up and planting a different climber. How long should I wait before I give up on it. It does have many leaves and is about 4-5' tall.
AnswerI would wait until next year as the climber may be using up it's energy making growth at the expemse of making flowers. This is not unusual for a climber. It sounds like it is in good condition so if by next spring it still isn't blooming, then I would replace it. Lynnette
