QuestionHello,
My Flower Carpet Rose (3rd year) in NJ Z 6, came up this year looking very healthy. In fact, looks better than last year. Except that yesterday I noticed a small number of leaves (near the tip) are turning bright yellow.
I transplanted the rose last fall.
We have had a wet spring, I haven't needed to water it. I did fertilize it.
Any idea what is causing this?
thank you,
ellen
AnswerRoses will tolerate a lot, such as drought, bitter cold, broken canes and high winds. However they will not tolerate wet feet. When the weather is constantly overcast and raining or even just damp and overcast, roses are not happy. They then get too much water sitting around their roots which will suffocate some of the feeder roots. Also roses resent any disturbance and will sometimes take time to adjust to a transplant. If your rose started off healthy, then it has taken the move okay so it is your weather which is causing the problem and as you can't change the weather, you will have to hope that you get some sunny days. Hope this helps. Lynnette
