QuestionI live in the "High Desert" which is Hesperia California. I moved a pink rose bush from being close to the house to an area that gives it more sun. The blooms are no longer pink. They are red. What happened?
AnswerHi, Suzie--the original variety has died off, and what you are seeing are the blooms of the rootstock, Dr. Huey, which is in acutality an Old Garden Rose. It blooms once a year, in about a six week flush with those wine-colored blooms.
I would watch to see if the original variety comes back. If not, and you don't want this rootstock, just dig it up.
