Questionin order to hide my neighbors junkyard, I plan to put up a fence, then plant next to it. from my window I face west. there is a sugar maple about 15 yrs old, and about 6' beyond the property line, he has planted fir trees. so, there is limited sunlight, plus the new fence will also shade the area. is there any rose - preferrable climbing - that would survive in that scenario? I know the tree will suck up moisture and thought about creating a mound in which to plant. thanks so much
AnswerHi martha,
Sorry for delayed my answer. As you thought, roses need an average of six hours of sun a day to prosper. If less than three hours, you had better give up to grow them. You may try to grow them, but you need take care of them closely. They may have more diseases such as fungus. Good luck to you! Ken
