QuestionI live in Western New York. Niagara Falls to be exact. I recieved to small roses for valentine's day. I would like to know when i can plant them in the ground without worring about hurting them. They are in a sunny window and have plenty of new growth on them since I recieved them. I don't know what kind they are but I believe they are a miniature rose of some kind. Thank you for any help you can give me. Cheryl
AnswerYour little roses will do better outside as thy don't like the high humidity of a house. Even though they are small, you grow them the same way as a large rose. Did a hole where they will get at least 8 hours of full sun. Scatter 2 tablespoons of any rose fertilizer around the base then place a mulch around the plant as they have tiny thin roots which dry out very quickly, and water well. Another way you can grow them outside is in a container and then you can bring them into the house in the winter in an unheated area.
Next spring prune them back by a half and they will do well for you. Hope this helps. Lynnette
