QuestionI live in Phoenix Az in an apartment. I was given a rose bush for valentines day. The tag reads it is a pot rose charming parade.
I want to keep it alive. I don't know how. i do have a plant light. I do not get direct sunlight from any of my windows.
AnswerHi, Melanie--you may have some luck putting it under a grow lamp. It will need at least 8 and preferably 12 hours of this a day to duplicate sunlight. They will really do better outside, even if you have to transplant it to a larger pot. Periodically, put it in the sink, spray it with a mixture of 1 teaspoon dish detergent to a quart of water. Be sure to get the undersides of the leaves. Leave about 5-10 minutes, then rinse with plain water. This will take care of any spider mites which tend to be drawn to miniature roses. Give it some liquid fertilizer every two weeks--you can use Miracle-Gro mixed at 1/2 strength. If you use the grow light, try to give it some outside time every couple of weeks (a plant sitter, maybe?!) Good luck, and let me know if I can be of more help!
