I did send a message yesterday - our messages might have 'crossed'.  I'm sorry, but the question is outside my area of expertise, though I have to say that in my experience I have found that trying to stablize a stem that has broken as you've described is usually doomed, as it is likely that no matter what you do, the danger of disease at the point of the breakage is huge and would ultimately infect the rest of the plant!  My advice would be to cut the stem off below the break and make the most of the plant as it will be.
