QuestionI have winter damaged holly evergreen leaves. Will the leaves grow back? If not, what can I do to keep my plant alive?
AnswerHowdy Ruth,
Coach Dave here and I'm a garden expert with The Home Depot. I'm sure your not happy about the winter damage done to your holly shrubs so let's see what we can do about it.
The "winter blight" as it is known usually is only a temporary problem that can easily be solved with some trimming. If there is visible stem rot, you may have to apply a fungicide to the stems and surrounding root area.
The leaves will grow back quicker if you trim off the bad parts and treat for fungus. Remember, a single application will not solve the fungus so carefully read the direction on the label of the fungicide.
Let me know if you have any more concerns,
Yours Respectfully,
Coach Dave
