QuestionCan you trim the Rose of Sharon in the fall?
AnswerDear Kathy,
Hi, I'm Coach Dave, I work for The Home Depot in California. There are various types of "Rose of Sharon" (Hibiscus syriacus or Shrubby Althaea, which share common attributes. With this in mind caring for "Rose of Sharon" is easy if you use these guidelines. Pruning should only be done in late Winter or early Spring. If you prune in the Fall, the branch ends won't have time to harden and could damage the plants branches. If pruning is done during blooming season, it could slow the growth and take away from blooms the following season.
If you have any other concerns, let me know, I'm always glad to help.
Yours Respectfully,
Coach Dave
