QuestionI am in Minnesota, southern part. We planted a new Lilac bush approx 2 feet high, it did well at first but is now showing crinkled blackened edges on the leaves. The new leaves look good. It is in a south facing location and was planted in the yard, a grassed area.
AnswerHello Denise
You don't say how long ago you planted this lilac. If it was recently it might be that there was a spell of cold nights as the leaves were coming out and they got nipped! As the new leaves are looking good and it is planted in a south facing position, I don't think I'd worry too much about it at this stage. If the new leaves display the same symptoms in the future, I would suggest that you go the AllExperts gardening menu and click on 'Pests' or 'Plant Diseases' - I'm hopeful, though, that this will not be necessary.
