QuestionHad a bad snow storm and the snow laid heavy on the Arboirviti and they are still leaning over what can we do or will they stand tall again on tier own??
AnswerHello Walter
You don't say how tall the Arborvitae are or how far they are leaning over. If they are less that 6 feet tall and not leaning over more than about 30 degrees it may be possible to pull them back and secure each to stakes in an H form with tree ties.
To make the H form, drive stakes into the ground on two sides of the tree about 6-8 inches back from the trunk and about 2.5 feet apart. Use another stake to form the cross piece of the H about 2/3rds of the way up the stakes and secure the trunk of the tree to this using a tree tie (obtainable from the garden center).
If, however, the trees are taller and/or leaning more, righting them may be impossible.
It is unlikely they will stand tall again on their own. What could happen is that the leading (topmost) shoot will start to bend and grow upwards - but the main trunk will always be leaning over.
