QuestionI recently planted 4 small arbovites...about 3-4 ft tall...they are on the west side of my house...for the winter months, do I need to wrap them in burlap for some winter protection???? thank you
AnswerHello Deborah
Arborvitae are generally fully frost hardy, but as these are newly planted I might be tempted to wrap them up for their first winter, to protect from cold wind as much as anything, though it is also a good idea if you usually get heavy snow. Burlap will be perfectly OK.
As the plants get older and stronger it shouldn't be necessary.
