When is the best time of year to trim Lemon Cypress Shrubs? Mine are growing over the sidewalk and need to be trimmed. How much can you cut them back and not do any harm? I live in southern Indiana in the mid-west of the USA.

Ideally your Crypess shrubs should be been cut back in late spring, but if they are causing a nuisance to people using the sidewalk you could take a chance now.  Just make sure that you do not cut back into old wood - they wont regenerate if you do!
