QuestionQUESTION: I planted a rose of sharon shrub and its leaves look droopy. leaves seem to look silvery Is something wrong. too much water, not enough. Help
ANSWER: Hi Peggy
Rose of Sharon (a variety of Hypericum) is usually pretty problem free! You dont tell me if your plant is in a pot or in the ground. If it is in a pot is it outdoors or in?
Would you like to re-submit your question with the above information added so that I can get a better idea of the growing conditions?
Thanks

Now I am afraid I am losing it. I dug a hole pretty deep. put dirt then potting soid and mulch. I have watered enough to keep wet
AnswerHi Peggy
Thanks for your follow up - I think I know what the problem is.
You say you just planted it outside after having the plant in a pot inside. I believe that your Rose of Sharon has caught a bit of a chill!! The silvering on the leaves is a reaction to it being taken straight out of a warm indoors environment and put outside. Your plant technique was just right, by to way.
Give your plant a while to settle into its new outdoor life and it will grow away beautifully and give you plenty of big, bright yellow flowers over a long period during the summer, and for years to come.
Give it a prune in the fall and next year your only problem should be containing its exuberant growth - and it likes to seed itself round.
I hope this helps!
