Question
I have 2 hydrangea bushes that have blossomed every year I have lived in this house(15 years).  The bushs were here when I moved in.  Last summer and this summer both bushes have big green leaves, are very well shaped, but have produced no flowers, as they had done profusely all the other years. Is there something I should add to the soil and when is the best time to prune? Thank you

Prune them now to ensure that there are flowers for next year, since most Hydrangeas flower off of old wood. As far as adding to the soil, I would recommend cutting out fertilizers or at least heavy nitrogen fertilizers. Nitrogen stimulates leaf and tissue growth, but can inhibit flower production.
