QuestionI live in southwestern NY state. I planted 2 burning bush shrubs in May.
They seemed to do well until I started having problems with a type of
copper colored beetle eating the leaves. I have dusted the plants
throughout the summer with a garden dust called "Eight". It seemed to
be helping until lately. I am afraid that these pests are going to destroy
my plants. Do you have any suggestions.
AnswerDeborah,
There are only two beetles that I know of that are that color- the european chafer and the viburnum leaf beetle. As far as I know, neither of these beetles will attack euonymus. I would recommend that you try to catch a few and take them to the nearest cornell cooperative extension outlet for identification.
Good luck,
