QuestionHi, I recently moved a large potted rubber tree to an outside location to use as a 'live privacy screen'. Was told by water dept that the root system will grow to destroy sewer line and that I would have to pay to have it replaced 'when' that happens. Is this a likely-hood? Please & thank you.
AnswerSandi,
I am not too familiar with the rubber tree, but from what I know, it is considered an invasive plant and should not be planted. I would have to say that it is entirely plausible for the roots to invade sewer and water lines- any tree will do this to some degree.
Good luck,
