QuestionI planted hydrangeas shrubs in 2002. Out of three, one shrub had flowers for 2 years. Now, they all look dormant, not even the green leaves are growing well. What do they need? I reside in Chicago area. I water, fertilize, cultivate the soil, no result. Please, help.
Thank you, Susan
AnswerSusan,
There are many reasons for the lack of vigor of the plants- mites, low temperature injury from the winter, too much fertilizer, soil contamination, over watering, etc. I would recommend calling a nursery in your area and finding out if they could visit your house to examine the plants for a more precise diagnosis.
Good luck,
