princess spirea bush

Question
I recently planted a princess spirea bush in front of my house that gets the majority of the sun from mid morning through the end of the day.  We have watered it almost every day and have given it a shot of fertilizer as well.  It had just started to bloom when we transferred it to the ground.  Since then, it seems to be wilting, and the buds are brown looking, with only a few blooms left.  It seems like it's dying.  What might be the cause of this and how can I help it to come back??

Answer
Holly,

One of the worst times to plant is when the plant is starting to bloom. This causes extra stress on the plant from which it sometimes does not recover.

I have seen plants put out a second flush of bud growth, but it is very rare. I would recommend continuing normal watering practices and fertilize them again in the fall. Do not fear- they will flower next year.

Good luck,
