we have many very large and tall rhodeys around our home. they are beginning to overpower the house and need to be heavily pruned both in height and width. they seem to be quite healthy. can you give me some advice. thanks for your help. ed

I would recommend taking them down to size in stages. Cut back on some of the longest branches this fall, then take them down more next fall. This will allow the plants to adjust their growth to the new size without sending them into shock.

You also could cut them down this late fall/ early winter. This type of rejuvenation pruning is drastic, and the plants will take a long time to regrow.
