QuestionI live in Bucks County Pa, and had two 15 year old blue spruces that always did well, they were close together (about 6 ft apart). We transplanted one of them May (2006) to about 65 ft away. We moved the one becuause we put in an inground pool. Now it looks like they are both dying, the needles on the bottom branches are falling off. My husband used fertilizer sticks for evergreens trees in the fall. Any ideas?
AnswerTerry,
It is hard to say what could have caused this type of dieback on the tree that was not moved unless the root system of this tree was disturbed when you dug up the other one. The one that was moved is probably in transplant shock from being moved at the wrong time of year.
I would recommend calling a local tree care company to inspect the areas and the trees themselves- this is the only way to know what happened exactly.
Good luck,
