QuestionI saw your answer to David including winter injury. I think this has happened
to 2 of my 4 holly bushes.
What is winter injury? How can I try to revive these bushes? Is there any way
to avoid it in the future?
Thanks,
dave
AnswerDavid,
Winter injury occurs when broad leaf evergreens lose water from the stomates in their leaves over the winter, but cannot replace the moisture due to frozen soil conditions or no rain or snow fall. Cold windy conditions speed up this process and further damage the leaves by causing the moisture in the cells to freeze leading to cellular damage as well.
Thanks for the question.
