QuestionWe moved our Hydrangea in for the winter (North Central MN.) and it grew about 2 feet. It is now starting to droop quite a bit as we moved it back onto our deck. Can/should it be pruned back? If so, any tips.
Thanks.
AnswerKarl,
I think the reason the Hydrangea drooped had to do with the change from the inside conditions to the outdoor.
I would not recommend pruning it at this time- pruning now would most likely remove the flower buds that were set last year. Fertilize it lightly and make sure it is kept well watered. It should recover as the temperatures moderate.
Good luck,
