JAPANESE RED MAPLE

Question
Japanese red maple. Main trunk seems to have died but there off-shoot branches from the base. any idea why.

There are many reasons why this could have happened, but the most probable cause would be that the tree had been grafted to a larger root stock, and the graft failed. Root grafting is a common practice in many nurseries for specimen trees.

If the tree is still in warranty, I would recommend getting a replacement.
