QuestionSEVERAL OF MY NANDIAS LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING IS EATING THE LEAFS OFF OF THEM. THEY JUST HAVE THE STEM ON THEM. I HAVE ABOUT 25 PLANTED AND MOST OF THEM ARE DOING WELL BUT THE OTHERS WITH OUT THE LEAFS ARE SMALL AND LEAFLESS BUT ARE LIVING. COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT COULD BE MY PROBLEM.
AnswerJean,
I know of no insects that attack Nandina. It is possible that the leaves are being stripped by a small animal, although this would be detrimental to the animal's health. The foliage contains an organic form of Cyanide and will cause dogs and other animals to become sick, have seizures and could bring on death.
I hope this helped.
Good luck,
